Emptiness often pops up out of nowhere. We are running along, and all of a sudden we find ourselves on empty. We often look at emptiness as a bad thing, Mary Magdelene sure did. Until she has an encounter with the risen Christ, then her perspective on emptiness totally changes.
When we get to the point of running on empty, we must be obedient to the things that God has told us to do. We need to continue to do what we know that we are supposed to be doing. We must trust that God is going to see us through these times of emptiness.
When we run to empty, we can either blame God, or we can trust God. We need to be reminded that God is in control of everything that happens in our lives. God cares about you and He knows what you are going through. God alone knows what is best for us. Sometimes His best means running on empty.
When we find ourselves on empty, we often try to claw and dig our way out of the situation that we find oursleves in. And many times we only make it worse. But during these times of emptiness, God wants us to stop and to look to Him.
