Jesus told his disciples that unless they hated those closest to them, then they couldn't be His disciple. But was Jesus really telling us to hate people? Or was there something else that He wanted to teach us by making that statement?
The next thing that Jesus told His disciples to do, was to bear their cross and follow Him. Notice that He said to bear our cross, not His cross. So if you are to bear my own cross, what exactly does that mean? If I don't know what it means to bear your cross, then you can't be His disciple.
The third requirement to be a disciple of Jesus is to sacrifice everything for Him. We have to decide if we are going to live for the here and now, or if we are going to be all in at living for Jesus. What is it that is holding you back from being His disciple?
Now that we have looked at what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, it is time to evaluate where we are in our walk with Him. Once we know where we are, then we can take the next step to get to where we need to be. So what is the next step that you need to take?
